About

In 2004 the Department of Health under the Health Service Executive introduced a major modernisation of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Service in the Republic of Ireland.

The modernisation included the introduction of a national computerised system  - the Civil Registration Computer System - for registering births, deaths and marriages and civil partnerships -  and  issuing certificates for these life events in the State.

To tie in with the new system Births Deaths and Marriages was renamed the Civil Registration Service nationally.

With computerisatation it became possible to order Domestic Adoption, Birth, Death, Marriage and Civil Partnership certificates ONLINE and have the certificates POSTED directly to you.

Now there’s no need to queue – just ORDER ONLINE.
